How do I use Capture Live?

Overview

Capture Live provides real-time transcription and multilingual captions for legal proceedings, business meetings, live events, and broadcasts. This guide covers setup and core features to help you get the most from Capture Live. 

The Power of Live Captions

Hosting a webinar, live event, or business meeting means reaching hundreds or thousands of viewers. But accessibility matters: captions aren't just a legal requirement for some industries, they're essential for inclusivity. With remote engagement on the rise, live captions have become critical for ensuring everyone—whether deaf or hard of hearing, multitasking, or in a noisy environment—can follow your message.

Capture Live makes adding real-time captions simple. Set up captions directly from your computer and ensure your message reaches every viewer, instantly. You'll meet accessibility standards while improving the experience for all attendees.


Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Log in to Claudio Web and navigate to the Capture Live tab. 

Step 2: Create a Job Name for your transcription project.

Step 3: Select a Job Profile best catered to your transcription project.

  • General Transcription English
  • General Transcription Bilingual English-French
  • General Transcription French
  • Insurance Interview
  • Legal Discovery/Hearing
  • Legal Reports
  • Medico-Legal Dictation
  • Multilingual Transcription & Translation

Step 4: Select your source of A/V Stream.

  • Microphone
  • Screen

Step 5: Add specific terms, names, or jargon in the Custom Vocabulary field. 

Step 6: Select your A/V Stream Language.

For Multilingual Transcription & Translation:

  • Non-English Source: Only transcribes to English.

  • English Source: Transcribes and translates simultaneously up to five languages.

Step 7: Configure your preferred Smart Formatting options and click Next.

  • Sentence Spacing: Single or double space.

  • Contractions: Keep or expand (e.g. don't -> do not).

  • Speaker Identification: Add or remove speaker labels.
  • Dictated Heading and Punctuation Support: Automatically format dictated punctuation and headings or type dictated punctuation and formatting as text.
  • Number Setup: Spell out or keep as numerals.
  • Salutation Format: Short (e.g. Ms., Mr.) or long (e.g. Miss, Mister). 
  • Time Setup: A.M./P.M. or a.m./p.m. 
  • Grammar Ready: Keep verbatim speech or fix grammar errors. 
  • Closed Captioning: SubRip Subtitle (srt) or Web Video Text Tracks (vtt).
  • Speaker Pauses: Remove or keep speaker pauses (e.g. uh, uhm).
  • Date Format: Set according to regional or project needs. 
  • Display Audio Events: Disable or enable audio events (e.g. [laughter], [applause]).

Step 8: Enable or disable Silence Monitoring. If enabled, select time preferred to alert if and when no audio is detected. Click Next.

  • You will be alerted five minutes prior to the selected time. If no response is received and no audio is detected, the connection will be closed once the selected time has passed.

Step 9: Click Start Recording and choose A/V Source Screen

  • You can Pause or Stop the live transcription at any time using the control buttons. 
  • Click Closed Captions to enable green screen mode. You can customize caption background colour, text colour, font style and font size. Adjust caption length and line spacing for better readability. 

Step 10: Click Stop once session is complete. Navigate to the My Jobs tab to access your transcript.


Tips for Best Results:

  • Use a high-quality microphone to improve audio clarity and transcription accuracy.

  • Add custom vocabulary as this is especially useful for industry-specific jargon or uncommon names.

  • Test your A/V source before live sessions to avoid interruptions during live events.

  • Utilize smart formatting to save time on post-editing transcripts.

Troubleshooting Common Issues:

  • No audio detected -> Ensure microphone or screen audio sharing is enabled. Check system permissions for audio access.

  • Incorrect transcription of specific terms -> Add terms to custom vocabulary and retry.
  • Captions not displaying in green screen mode -> Ensure closed captions are enabled. Verify display settings and screen selection.
